2019年1月、Dublin Institute of Technology、Institute of Technology BlanchardstownとInstitute of Technology Tallaghtの3校が合併してできた大学。そのため大学のキャンパスは3つあり、2020年9月には新たに10,000人の学生を収容できるキャンパスをダブリンにオープン予定。

アイルランド初の国立工科大学となり、国内の高等教育機関としては2番目の規模の大学となりました。教育レベルとしても、他の国立大学に引けを取らないレベルを誇ります。
